Our very first Flatzen Hinge prototype

We have come a long way from this first prototype. As well as our Flatzen Hinge having being granted a US Patent, we also have been granted additional patents on our hinge technology as well as a European Patent Pending.

Since the techology is all within the main hinge cylinder much more minimalistic connectors can be engineered than the ones shown here. Your furniture design would of course be of professional quality and finish - unlike this proof of concept. (We are not furniture designers so we deliberately fabricated the model with unfinished parts).

This prototype was created using precision laser-cut metal, 3-D printing and plywood. The design of the connectors can be made much more sleek, sophisticated and appropriate for your choice of materials.

The blades of the connectors can also be embedded into the flats or be of a one-part design - thus largely concealing the hinge (see sketches below).

Our intention is for furniture designers/manufactures to design their own creations using the unique properties of the hinge and to licence our hinge technology for commercial use.
